Highlights of Iran

This day is dedicated to the Zoroastrianism, an interesting religion based on good and evil, derived from old Persia. The Zoroasters are a small minority in Iran and mainly concentrated around Yazd. You will visit the Towers of Silence and the Fire Temple where the eternal fire of Zoroastrianism burns. In the afternoon you visit the Dolatabaad gardens and stroll around the city.

Yazd is also known as the city of sweets and treats because of the many pastry shops. The city has an iconic market square with a beautiful structure, definitely worth a visit. In addition, the well-known mosque of Yazd cannot be missed today.

You will leave the desert land behind and head back north. You travel from Yazd to Meybod, where you will visit the Meybod Water Reservoir and an old caravanserai. Afterwards your journey continues to Nain, one of the oldest towns in Iran with only 25,000 inhabitants. You will find one of the most beautiful and oldest castles here, the Narenj Castle. From Nain you travel about 140 kilometers to Isfahan.

Today you wake up in a thousand and one night fairy tale. You are in Isfahan, in our opinion the most beautiful city of Iran. You will spend all day exploring this special city. The guide will show you all highlights. Isfahan is the third largest city in Iran with a population of three million inhabitants. The city is known for its beautiful architecture and bridges.

In the morning the guide will pick you up and take you to the Imam Square, also known as the square of the world. After Moscow’s Red Square, this is the largest square in the world. It definitely earned its spot on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Go discover and experience this city! The guide will take you on a tour through the palace, the mosques and the bazaar. In the afternoon you head towards Chehel Sotoun Palace. Queen Elizabeth stayed here on her first visit to Iran and this is a beautiful palace with special art and accompanying gardens.

Today is at leisure in Isfahan. Enjoy the Iranian families having a picnic in the middle of the Meidan Emam square and wander through the massive souq around the square. Fun fact: this souq is 5 kilometres long! The inhabitants of Isfahan are very outgoing and will make you feel welcome in this beautiful city. If you are looking for something to do we highly recommend a visit to the Armenian Quarter. The area around the bridges of Isfahan is also worth a visit. Underneath the Si-o-se bridge you will often find men singing, an extraordinary experience.

After a relaxing day we have a busy day ahead of us. Early in the morning you will head to Kashan, a beautiful historic city and the perfect stop for lunch on the way to Tehran.

After Kashan, your journey continues to Qom. This is Iran’s center of religion and a special stop. The Ayatollah resides in Qom and you will visit the Shrime of Fatimeh. Please note: appropriate clothing is a requirement in Qom.

From Qom you drive further towards Tehran, the capital of Iran with about 16 million inhabitants. Just before entering Tehran, you make a stop at Ayatollah Khomeini’s mausoleum. This huge complex is a memorial to the Ayatollah and serves as a gathering place for the Iranians.

You will leave early in the morning to visit the souq of Tehran. Here you will experience modern Tehran in a perfect combination with traditional Arab life. The souq is enormous and very diverse, you can easily spend all morning here.

From the souq you continue by foot to the Golestan Palace, the oldest building in Tehran. Golestan Palace literally translates into Palace of Flowers. In addition, you go to the Palace of the Shah in North Tehran, the Niavaran Complex. The Shah lived here until he fled. This palace has recently opened to visitors.
