Itinerary

Beirut - Jeita - Musar Winery - Byblos - Beirut pick up rental car

Today you travel from Beirut to the coastal town of Byblos. Before we arrive in Byblos we make some stops along the way. We go to the Jeita caves, a natural phenomenon. From here you head for the winery of the famous wine ‘Chateau Musar’. Chateau Musar is considered as one of the most special wine estates in the world. Firstly, because of its location, the Lebanese Bekaa Valley, and on the other hand, because they still work the traditional way. The vineyards are located on siliceous limestone soils at an altitude of about 1000 meters. The long, warm summers guarantee excellent ripening of the grapes. You will return to Beirut in the evening for the night.

Beirut - Byblos - Tripoli - Qadisha Valley

Today’s first stop is the picturesque fishing town of Byblos. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited towns in the world. The name Byblos is Greek; papyrus received its early Greek name (byblos, byblinos) from its being exported to the Aegean through Byblos. Hence the English word Bible is derived from byblos as “the (papyrus) book.” In Byblos you will find a large fortress from the time of the Phoenicians and crusaders and a historic city center.

The next stop is Tripoli, the second largest city in Lebanon with approximately 500,000 inhabitants. Due to its favorable location, the city has a turbulent past. You will find remains from the Crusader era but also from the Ottoman period. After the second war, the city was under French mandate. From here we go to a special place for the overnight stay. We will spend the night in the area of Qadisha and visit the monastery, dedicated to Saint Anthony the Great, which is built against a mountain. This place offers a beautiful view of the area and there are plenty of opportunities to head into nature.

Zahleh - Al Shouf Cedar Nature Reserve - Deir el Qamar - Beittedine

Today you will head to Beiteddine. On the way you pass the Al Shouf Cedar Nature Reserve, a nature reserve with the famous cedar trees. Later on, you will arrive in Deir el Qamar, literally translated ‘monastery of the moon’. This UNESCO landmark is located high in the mountains and used to be on the legendary Silk Road. Not far from this place you will spend the night in Beiteddine, a small picturesque village which is known for its charm and ancient ruins.
